Quantifies sediment capture and root structure in restored mangrove systems.

Dr Siti Rahma quantifies sediment capture and root structure in restored mangrove systems, measuring how quickly a replanted coast begins to do the work of a mature forest. Her research helps distinguish restoration that protects shorelines from planting that only looks the part.

Spending much of her time in the mud of Indonesia's coasts, she builds the detailed field evidence that lets restoration projects be designed for resilience and assessed honestly over time.
