Postdoctoral Researcher, Urban Heat

Studies street-level heat exposure and the cooling value of urban green corridors.
Dr Priya Menon is a postdoctoral researcher studying street-level heat exposure and the cooling value of urban green corridors. She walks the city with sensors to capture how temperature changes from one block to the next, and where shade makes the difference between a comfortable and a dangerous afternoon.
Her findings show planners exactly where canopy and green corridors earn their place, turning shade from a nicety into a design requirement. She is especially interested in how cooling benefits reach the people most exposed to heat.
